| Customer Reviews: Really good, no-nonsense, tough watch. March 23, 2010 MandoBear (Herefordshire) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this watch a few weeks ago, and I really like it. Appearance-wise, I find it very attractive in a tool-watch kind of way. The basic time readout, with large clear hands on a dark grey dial is very pleasing - and very easy to read at a glance. The subdials and the digital displays do take a bit more studying. The reversed LCD displays are probably the only downside to this watch - they do need reasonable lighting to read them easily - but they do look very cool. (There is another variant of this watch, with non-reversed displays, which I imagine would be easier to read - but probably not as cool looking. You take your choice!)
The watch does have a lot of functions and does need some initial setting up - which takes a little bit of time, and a good read through of the manual - which I like: for me, reading the manual is part of the ritual of getting a new techie toy. Once the initial setup's done though, the basic operation of most of the functions of the watch are pretty straightforward - and probably reasonably familiar to those who've had a Casio previously. The sychronisation with the atomic time signal worked faultlessly - and it's fun watching the sub-dial hand move from ready to working as it picks up the radio signal. Synching only takes a couple of minutes, and where I live (West Midlands) is perfectly reliable - no need to put the watch in the window, just wear it, or put it on the shelf.
The full auto backlight is neat to. It turns on with a rotation of the wrist - but only when the ambient light is low - it doesn't come on when it's not dark enough (neat). The only downside to the light is that it doesn't backlight the LCD displays - which is a shame - the watch would be really improved if the module had a few more little LEDs in it to light up the LCDs - it would really improve its function. The hands are nice and luminous, so in some ways, the backlight in its current design doesn't add a lot of function - you can read the time easily in the dark without it.
In use, the watch is light, comfortable to wear, and nice and rugged-feeling. The solar power charges up pretty quickly in daylight too - when I first got the watch, it was on medium charge, but a few hours outside and the indicator hand was indicating high.
There are a lot of features to really like about this watch, and the only thing I would like to see improved is the backlight. For the money I paid for it, I have no complaints.

What a great strong watch! August 26, 2010 George This watch runs on a battery that is automatically recharged from daylight. It keeps perfect time by automatically correcting the time it displays to match an electronic time signal it picks up on a regular basis. So the watch is always spot on in terms of accurate time and the date is always correct as well. You can set it up to tell the correct time all around the world, a true GMT.
It's a bit fiddly to set up and the digital read outs need good lighting to read them and its a bit chunky and can not be described as a dress watch. But its no more fiddly than other watches costing a lot more money.
It is very comfortable to ware and the strap is long enough for big wrists, it is waterproof to 200 meters (sorry, it resists the ingress of water up to 20 bar water pressure) its tough and strong and built to take knocks.
It does lots of other stuff, like a stopwatch and it has alarms and the face lights up if you want it to, but the main thing is that it is easy to read the time and it tells you the correct time all the time.
I like watches and this one is fantastic and a bit of a bargain and great quality. Thank you Casio.
